I am sorry to say that quality wise, this company is rather low and to my understanding, a lot of their products has to be returned/ replaced even new. On the other hand, the old Nvidia MX4000 might have been manufactured by Palit, also in Taiwan but has a better quality control as of the time of production.

The MX4000 though only uses 128Mb of memory but runs them at 275/400 (DDR) MHz clock speed compared to the 9600 PRO 200 (400) MHz. The slow memory onto the PowerColor RADEON 9600 PRO EZ 256MB had a really bad effect on its performance. To your concern, the ECS 845GV-M3 (V1.0) uses AGP Express but should not cause a problem to either the 256 or 128.

If the 256 will test OK in another motherboard, then it would be a compatibility issue, try setting the CMOS/BIOS to default and see if it will work. Hope this be of initial help/idea. Get Adobe for free at: If you have already installed the 9600 AGP card, please shut down your system. Unplug the power cord from the power supply. Open your case & remove the 9600 AGP card. One must follow an order of sequences’ when changing graphics cards. Once removed, reconnect the power cord to the power supply & boot the system.

(It’s ok not to close your case). As the system starts to boot, press the Delete key on your keyboard every two seconds. The main bios menu will load. Read the instruction at the bottom of the menu which will show you how to move about in the bios.
