Install Xp Pro Without Cd

So here's the deal. My sister bought a computer from the flea market. It has a floppy drive, a CD-RW/DVD drive that doesn't work, and no operating system. I am trying to install Windows XP Pro onto this computer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried using the 6 floppy disk that I created from the Microsoft site. Does the BIOS indicate whether or not the machine will boot from CD? If not, I am wondering if you might be able to just use a DOS or Win98 boot floppy to access that drive, or just boot off the HD, if you get cd drivers loaded. A generic Win98 boot CD might work, it will load one of several drivers if it finds an appropriate one. The other choice for a boot floppy like this is to build your own, if there is a specific DOS driver available for your optical drive. You can just add that driver to the boot disk, and change the config.sys and autoexec.bat to load the driver and mscdex with the appropriate parameters.
