You don't need to run the kernel in 64-bit mode to use L64. This means your LP8 serial number is an upgrade version from Logic 7, rather than a full version. If you don't know what an XSkey is, then you can't have had Logic Pro 7, so I don't understand how you can be running an upgrade serial number.
If you upgraded from Logic Express 7, then you'll need to enter your original LE7 serial number. Basically, you need to validate the original Logic 7 with either your XSkey (for the Logic Pro upgrade) or your LE serial number (for the Logic Express upgrade).
If you never upgraded from Logic 7 at all and never had it, then contact Apple, because your serial number seems to be funky. Give them your serial number and proof of purchase, and they'll get you up and running. Hi guys, I've owned Logic since version 7 and kept updating it regularly since.
After updating to 10.6.2 and Logic 9.1, booting up to 64 bit kernel (which I guess I need to do), turning Logic 9.1 to 64bit mode and trying to boot up gives me the good-old funky XSKey issue (had the same stuff when I updated to Logic 9 from Logic 8, but found some answers on some forums about copying the XSKey libraries from previous Logic versions, which worked). However, this time around the copying doesn't help. The program still boots up to 32bit mode perfectly though (thank goodness). Veritas Storage Foundation Software Compatible Checks. Notice that I had the old XSKey plugged in also.
I put the reports on to Apple, as I'm guessing I'm probably not the only one with the problem: Process: Logic Pro [369] Path: /Applications/Logic Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Logic Pro Identifier: com.apple.logic.pro Version:??? As already stated: don't boot Snow Leopard into 64-bit mode, it is not necessary. And for the XSKey: by copying an _old_ XSKey framework into that folder, you overwrote the 64-bit version of that framework, which get's installed with Logic Studio 2009.
